100 gum nuts without holes – natural, not painted
Size of gum nuts varies according to the season and area they are collected.
Lots of work in every gumnut – collectors have travelled out bush at the right time. There can be many trips as they wait for the right time to harvest. Once gumnuts have been collected, they are brought back to town and laid out in the sun to dry. During this time, about a third are discarded due to quality control. They are turned daily for about 6 weeks. When dry, each gumnut is trimmed, graded for size and then the hole is pierced in each individual (generally about 20% break and are discarded). They are then kept in a dry area and monitored as they wait for packing and sending to you.
