Ideal for creating ear rings, necklaces, bracelets and other jewellery These seeds are mixed colours and have drilled 1mm, 1.5mm or 2mm holes. The smallest holes are very fine and good for earring making – they thread easily onto fine hobby wire. If you want to thread bracelets or necklaces on to leather or elastic, I recommend that you select 2mm holes. Natural shapes and sizes
Hole Positions Explained
Front hole – means the drill is inserted into the ‘navel’ of the seed so that, when threaded only the colour of the seed is visible
Side Hole – at 90 degrees to the ‘naval’ which is the traditional way. When threaded the little brown ‘naval’ will be visible
Top hole – goes through the seed lengthwise from top to bottom. Good for earrings. Only available in 1mm and 1.5mm because it goes through the narrowest part of the seed.
Which hole size should you choose?
It depends on what you will be threading them on.
- 1mm is good for earrings and hobby wire,
- 1.5mm for elastic,
- 2mm for leather, weaving raffia or thicker elastics
- 3mm for basket weaving, leather and raffia
