These gum nuts have been wild harvested by indigenous collectors on their homelands. The gum nuts are then cleaned, trimmed and sorted. They are put out to dry for around 6 weeks. After that a threading hole is pierced into each seed (sometimes burnt, sometimes drilled). The artist then paints each one with a base coat followed by a design.
The designs are inspired by country, depicting landscape, waterholes, flowers, bush foods etc
Many hours of work has gone into each gum nut. Also they have been handled by several different people, usually in the same family, out bush on traditional homelands. A gift from country, from families and from artists, just for you.
