Stylobasium spathulatum
The Pebble Bush (Stylobasium spathulatum) is endemic to the Northern Territory, Queensland, and Western Australia.
The word spathulatum is from the Latin spathulatus,-a,-um meaning “spoon-shaped” and refers to the shape of the leaves.
The Walmajarri people (of the Kimberley region of Western Australia) call this bush Kuparta.
I have heard them called ‘nyintu’ by Luritja women but not sure if that’s an official name.
They are also known as ‘witchinbara’
Seeds are about 5mm across – very small and very hard.
They make a nice contrast to ininti or quandong when threaded.
