They would make great activity packs for threading. Suitable for school, home activities and appreciation of the designs and symbols of aboriginal art. Every gumnut is a work of art.
These bloodwood gumnuts have been wild harvested by indigenous collectors on their homelands. The gumnuts are then cleaned, trimmed and sorted. They are put out to dry for around 6 weeks. After that a threading hole is pierced into each seed. The artist then paints each one with a basecoat followed by a design.
The designs are inspired by country, depicting landscape, waterholes, flowers, bush foods etc
Many hours of work has gone into each gum nut. Also they have been handled by several different people, usually in the same family, out bush on traditional homelands. A gift from country, from families and from artists, just for you.
